Description

Designed in the Anglo-Japanese style of the Aesthetic Movement, and heavily influenced by E.W.Godwin, this beautifully detailed chair is made of walnut and has an upholstered drop-in seat. Of small proportions, it has tramline fluting to the arms and uprights as well as turned front legs and stretcher. It is newly reupholstered in a red fabric.

76cm high and 54cm wide. The seat rail is 36cm high.

The chair has been cleaned and polished and is in good order with the kind of knocks to be expected for an item its age. A repair has been effected whereby a new piece of wood has been spliced on to the bottom of a damaged rear leg, though this is only noticeable under scrutiny.
