Description

This ingenious oak desk has a tambour front that lifts when the top drawer is opened to reveal a fitted interior and a flap that unfolds to form the writing surface. Beneath are a further three drawers and a cupboard, all with embossed copper handles. The sides and the back, along with the cupboard door, are all panelled whilst the drawers have flush fronts. It stands on castors.

This remarkable design was the work of Christopher Pratt & Sons of Bradford. The interior has a paper label with their details as well as a great deal of information about postal and telegram charges of the day.

It measures 95cm high, 78.5cm wide and 53.5cm deep.

It is in very good and entirely functional condition. It has its original keys and ink wells.
