Description

Fine cherry tree 8 day going, hour and half hour, repeating carriage clock with alarm. Fatton, Paris, circa 1840. With a giIt bronze handle. Beautiful antique mantel clock in a mahogany case.

White enamel with Roman numerals and blued steel Breguet hands. The movement is then both wound, and accessed from the back and comes complete with its pendulum and winding key.

The backplate engraved Robin Hor... du Roy A PARIS, with going barrel both for the going and the striking trains, cylinder escapement, plain three armed brass balance, flat balance spring. Striking and repeating on bells. In very good condition

“Fredrick Louis Fatton first worked for Abraham Louis Breguet in Russia between 1801-1807. By 1814 he was Breguet's independent agent in London. Interestingly, Fatton is one of several men who signed their work Elève de Breguet. Fatton was the inventor of the Inking Chronograph, see George Daniels, The Art of Breguet, p. 72. Fatton took out two patents for inking chronographs in 1822, numbers 4645 and 4707.”
