Description

An antique Potain aspirator, a 19th-century medical instrument set which was used to treat pulmonary pathologies by suctioning liquids or gases from body cavities.
The set includes a valved metal syringe, various aspirating needles with trocar cannulae, and a rubber bunged valve head designed to fit a glass collection bottle.
Invented by a French cardiologist, it was designed for the aspiration of fluids and gas from the body, including the bladder and lungs.
This set was produced by GIMA , and features a wood leather covered box, lined with red velvet.
