Description

-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-

A very charming Georgian solid oak sideboard.

c.1800.

The sideboard is constructed mainly from oak making it very heavy, solid and robust.

The two plank top has an up-stand to the back which is a later addition.

Having two raised and fielded panelled cupboard doors, flanking three thick oak lined drawers, of dove-tail construction. With brass swan-neck handles.

The doors having brass bun handles open to reveal a shelved interior. Each door having a working lock and individual key.

Nice panelled sides and the original pine back boards.

Another charming feature to the sideboard is in the centre of the base. An earlier 17th century oak panel has been incorporated into the construction. This is shown in one of the pictures. The original cabinet maker must have had this element as a "spare part " and decided to use it for the base.

The colour of the oak is a rich medium colour, with an excellent characterful patina.

In excellent antique condition. With minor expected general signs of age and use.

Very solid, sturdy and strong.
