A very charming small early 18th century solid oak coffer, blanket box. The size of the coffer would make an ideal coffee table with storage, so really very versatile.

The coffer is of pegged construction and has two deep panels to the front and the top which opens to reveal a fitted lidded candle box with a hinged lid. Inside is a good clean and solid interior.

The original hinges to the coffer have been later replaced and the lock also is a slightly later replacement.

To the lid of the coffer externally are some small stamped letters, which are RPS. These are shown in the pictures and are probably the initials of a previous owner.

This sweet coffer has developed a lovely rich warm colour and patina to the solid oak.

The overall condition is excellent antique condition. With expected general signs of age and use.

Very solid sturdy and strong.
