A pretty Regency mahogany secretaire-bookcase of small proportions.

c1820.

The top section to this very elegant secretaire has a decorative shaped and beaded pediment with Gothic arch astragals to the glazed doors, which open to reveal an adjustable shelved bookcase or display area. Having two adjustable shelves. With the original brass flush bolt locks to the left door, and original working lock and key to the right door.

The secretaire section has the original working lock and key, which pulls out and opens to reveal a stunning satinwood high quality fitted interior, with an arrangement of nine drawers with turned delicate and very elegant bone handles. Having four pigeon holes and open storage area to the centre above a long central drawer. Good quality gold/yellow leather writing surface, with gold tooled decoration.

This is over a cabinet decorated with beaded panels and beautifully flame figured mahogany to the centres. Opening to reveal a shelf to the interior.

Key to each section.

Lovely patination and warmth to the mahogany.

Standing on splayed bracket feet.

The top section can be removed from the base section.

In excellent antique condition.

Very solid sturdy and strong.
