Description

Edwards and Roberts Oak Chiffonier c1860-80.

Edwards and Roberts were founded in 1845 and were trading at 21 Wardour street, London by 1854.  They were well known for the quality of their cabinet making skills.  They not only produced their own designs as well as Revivalist styles but restored furniture, copied old designs and adapted old pieces for the market at the time.

This is an oak chiffonier of good proportions having a mirror back with single mirror and two supporting uprights and upper shelf and turned gallery rail.  The cupboard section has a single shelf and is raised on a plinth base.  The mirror back steps back to meet the wall giving itself the room at the base to avoid the skirting board.

This has been a piece of our own for a while and has acted as our own family bar for some time now. Pa and I are sad to see it go but higher powers have put her foot down.
