Description

This is a a wonderful Antique Georg IV - William IV flame Mahogany Bookcase c1820-37.  It is raised on a Plinth base with a pair of carved Pilasters mounted with foliate carvings to each end.  The pair of cupboard doors have have a shield shaped frieze with curl or flame mahogany panels.  The lock is original but the key has been made to fit as with the top lock and both keys are different. The lower cupboard has a single shelf which is fully adjustable.  Above the cupboard is a pair of drawers with cushion shaped fronts and hand cut outs underneath them.  The upper cabintet has a pair of domed front glazed doors each having two glazing bars.  It is flanked by a pair of pilasters with foliate carvings to them.  The three shelves inside are all fully adjustable.  The upper pediment has a grand and imposing nature again with flame mahogany.  A great piece that comes into two pieces, upper and lower.
