Description

This is a late Victorian Arts & Crafts Golden Oak sideboard c1890-1910.  It is raised on short legs with turned knops to the base after the influence of Liberty and William Birch at this point along with the rise of Vernacular design, championed by William Morris.  It has a pair of doors to the lower section each having a key that I have found for them.  The doors have lovely carved foliate arched panels and inside there is a single shelf.  The drawers above are stepped forward slightly and have foliate carvings flanking them and between them.  There is a simple ogee moulding to the top edge and an all round great piece.
