Description

This is a wonderful High Victorian Mahogany Bar (Chiffonier) c1860-80. It is raised on a plinth base with thumbnail moulding to the base (Bull Nose if you an engineer). It has a pair of opening doors with shaped moulding all the way round with gorgeous flame mahogany veneer shown off in all of its glory. Each door retains its original lock and has a key to it. To each side there are heavily carved sconce brackets. Inside there is a drawer to the lower right and two linen slides to the upper section with a single shelf to the middle left. The top has a large thumbnail moulding with a the back having a recessed section showing off the flame Mahogany (sometimes called fiddle back but more properly curl mahogany) back. The bracket supports are heavily carved supporting a shelf and a great pierced back. A great piece.
