Description

This is a choice English Georgian side table, or lowboy, in excellent near original condition.
It is of a particularly nicely proportioned small size with very well executed cabriole legs and a deep overhanging top.
The drawer is inlaid with a border of crossbanded fruitwood, and the engraved backplate handles and escutcheon are original, as is the lock.

The two plank top has a band of pale sapwood to the front, probably chosen by the cabinet maker to offer a contrast of light and shade to the colour of the piece, also the likely reason for including a border to the drawer front, (impressively this has been inlaid, not edged).

Excellent colour and overall condition.

The sycamore drawer lining has had worm infestation previously. This is now completely inactive and the holes have been filled. The sap wood of the top has also had worm - equally inactive now and filled.
