Description
Sidney Valentine Gardner N.S.A 1869-1957Sidney Valentine Gardner was a Nottingham artist, one of a number from that city who was attracted to Staithes. The best of his work always shows the the typical Staithes mastery of light and shade. He was elected a member of the Staithes Art Club in 1903 and of the Nottingham Society of Artists in 1908 and exhibited with the Society 73 times. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists.
This watercolour of this wonderful thatched cottage set in a hamlet with a haystack in the background. This great artist is quite sort after and very collectible. There is pencil description on the back of the painting.
The images are the best I could achieve due to the Flash. This also effected the true colours shown on the painting.
Condition UN-FRAMED. The watercolour is in very good condition and always been kept behind glass.
