Charles II, 'X' Frame Chair of State, C. 1660

Description
This seat with its distinctive 'x' frame, is know as a chair of state. The frame is made of beech and upholstered with red and crimson velvet, tacked on with iron nails with ornamental gilt heads.A similar piece known as 'The Juxon chair' is currently on display at the V&A, London, UK. The Juxon chair was used by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the coronation of King Charles II.
