Wedgwood SYP (Simple Yet Perfect) Teapot

Description
A Wedgwood early 20th Century SYP (Simple Yet Perfect) teapot, blue and white transfer printed 'Peony' pattern. The concept for the design of this teapot was first patented by B H Cochrane in 1901. Inside, a horizontal perforated ledge separates the dry tea from the hot water. Only when the teapot is tilted backwards to rest on the two short legs at the back is the hot water allowed to pass through the perforations and onto the tea leaves. When the tea is brewed, the teapot is set down again onto the base and the tea is ready to be poured through the conventional spout. The separation of the used tea leaves from the prepared tea prevents it from becoming 'stewed'.
The design is such that when tilted back, the lid cannot fall off.
Base is printed and impressed 3UL
The colour and glaze is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. 22cms high
A lovely addition to any collection or to actually use to make a brew!
