Description

This is a superb example of Victorian craftsmanship at its finest. It is sold in cleaned rather than fully restored condition.
The top is divided into three banded panels a central rectangular one above the doors and two side panels of triangular form to reflect the shape of the ends. There are also circles above each of the four columns to make the columns seem more important.
The frieze has scrolling leaf design with large stylistic flowers above each of the four columns and a central roundel.
The two large central panels which are suspended by marquetry ribbons are predominately filled with musical instruments more so the right hand door. The left hand side has an extra globe and an open book with a picture of a sailing ship to one side and a rural cottage to the other.
The doors have curved sides next to their hinges to allow the columns to look more important. There are also ivy decorations to the corners of the panels. They open to reveal two shelves with stringing to the front of each and original velvet to the rear.
The ends are unusually open and shaped, they have mirror backs to two sides. There are two fixed shelves and the base which are veneered in satinwood with mahogany banding.
The four columns are turned with ormolu/brass mounts as is the rest of the cabinet.
There is a plinth base and four bun feet.
