This painting is attributed to Johan Matiaz Wuerzer (1760-1838), a German master celebrated for his lively animal compositions. Cattle, horses, goats, and sheep are rendered with extraordinary naturalism and luminosity, within a classical landscape dominated by ancient ruins and a soft light.
