A fabulous example of a Qing Dynasty heavily carved Scholars/Vanity chair from the early 19th century. Made in the best quality hardwood (possibly Zitan?) the only wood known to sink in water. extremely heavy. Circa 1820. The carving is of the highest quality and the chair is solid and ready to be used. The pictures speak for themselves. The chair stands 36 1/2" tall x 17" wide x 21" deep. Seat height is 16 1/2". Seat area is 17" x 17". All original including slim metal plate on back of chair.
