For sale is a very attractive Edwardian Lorgnette.

The lorgnette has a beautifully simple yet elegant design consisting of two lenses within a 9ct gold sprung folding frame extending to a long handle terminating in a ring for hanging the lorgnette on a chain. Halfway down the handle can be found an encircling ring that when pulled downwards allows the closed lorgnette to spring open. The lorgnette are marked 9CT on the inside of the bridge between the lenses.

The lorgnette is just under 5 1/2 inches (14cm)long when closed and is in an excellent condition. The opening mechanism works smoothly and the lenses fold over one another and lock into position easily on closure.
