We have for sale a rather lovely and unusual ungilded 1st Period Dr wall scale blue dessert plate dating to around 1770.

This very attractive plate is of a moulded form and decorated with with 13 polychrome floral panels against a scale blue ground. The plate carries the fretted square Worcester mark in underglaze blue to base. What makes this plate unusual is that the vast majority of Dr Wall period plates of this form were quite heavily gilded. Thus it is highly likely that this plate was specifically ordered as part of an entirely ungilded service, making it rather rare.

The plate is 8.75 inches (22.3cm) in diameter and is in an excellent condition other than a very little bit of surface wear.
