Description

We have for sale a very decorative large blue and white 19th century porcelain charger manufactured and decorated in the Japanese city Imari located in Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu.

The plate is of a lobed circular form and is hand painted in blue and white (Sometsuke) with a water and island botanical design incorporating chrysanthemum, cherry blossom and peonies. The charger is ready to hang being fitted with a sturdy wire plate hanger.

The charger is 14.5 inches (37cm) in diameter and is in a very good to excellent condition. The hanger looks as if it also dates to the late 19th century, and like the charger is in a very good to excellent antiwue condition
