Description

We have for sale a rather hard to find and very attractive New Hall Pattern No 1695 teacup and saucer dating to somewhere around 1800.

This very attractive London shaped cup and saucer is decorated with what looks like pattern no. 1695 (See Patricia Preller, "A Partial Reconstruction of the New Hall Pattern Book" - note that the flowers look pinker in Pat Preller's book) consisting of a gilt rim over a white band over a broad band of magenta, green and gilt flowers and foliage with orange three leafed sprigs against a very light olive ground around a central gilt sprig against a white ground. In the case of the cup this decoration is restricted to the inside of the cup minus the central gilt sprig, and the exterior of the cup is decorated with a single gilt band to the body and a gilt band to the foot rim in the manner of New Hall pattern Pattern 1696. The cup and saucer probably dates to somewhere around 1800.

The saucer is 5.5 inches (14cm) in diameter and the cup is 2.4 inches (6cm) high and 3.5 inches (9cm) deep including the handle. The cup and saucer are both in a good to very good condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs, but there are some small losses to the gilt in places.
