Description

Fine quality set of six William IV period dining chairs, in beech with original painted decoration to simulate rosewood, with shaped ‘bar back’ cresting rails above an ornately carved splat, caned seats with squab cushions, and raised on sabre legs.
DateWilliam IV : Circa 1835. DimensionsWidth 19” (48cm) Depth 21” (53cm) Height (overall) 33” (84cm) Height (seat) 19”(48cm) ConditionThese chairs are in sound original structural condition. The polish and painted decoration are also original, though as one would expect a little rubbed in places. The cane seats are in generally good original condition, though with a few small repairs here and there, as might be expected. They are sound enough for general use though. The squab cushions have age, though probably not original. Some of them have become discoloured in places over the years. They could be re-covered easily enough if required.
