Description

Rare Original 17th Century Solid Silver Gilt Engraved Double Tier Spice Box c1680-1700. Unmarked. A unique example with four circular compartments and a drawer. Original engraving to the top, there are two reclining figures visible, although faint. Constructed throughout in solid silver with original decorated silver rivets. Double tier, with larger circular silver gilt compartments to first layer, with two silver gilt circular compartments to upper tier, and also silver gilt drawer to centre. There is a dummy drawer visible to the back, the handle is lost. All circular compartments hinge and stay in place when pushed closed. Very rare example indeed in superb untouched condition.
