A Pair of late 19th century hands crafted busts of a tribal African man and Woman carved from one large solid piece of naturally Soapstone.
This fine large native sculptures have been produced after many hours of intense and careful hand carving,and is an extremely heavy pieces weighing in at 11Kg each.
The sculptures are rare one off individually crafted examples,generally in good condition for the age, and has captured the character and personality of the sitter in good detail
Achieving depth and realism in the evenly chiseled hair.
The finish has a natural finish and has a fairly smooth unbroken surface,showing a few signs of age
