Description

We have a beautiful Tunbridge Ware box. Tunbridge Ware is a form of parquetry composed of square, diamond and other geometrical shapes utilised to form borders and bandings, found on wares of the 19th Century.

The colours in the marquetry are clear and bright. There is a blank brass plaque in the centre of the top, and a brass escutcheon on the front.. The lock and key are present and working.

The original finish was a little faded, so we have cleaned, french polished, using traditional methods, and waxed the surface. This gives the appearance of a used, well cared for antique item.

There is a pen tray, the ink bottle is missing.

Inside the leather skiver is in good original condition although there is some slight damage. Lifting each flap reveals storage space which is in superb, very clean condition.
