Description

We have a fabulous walnut Victorian writing slope/lap desk.

The outside of the piece is in excellent condition. There are some minor knocks which add to its antique look. One or two small chips have been sympathetically restored.

There is a blank brass plaque in the middle of the top and a matching escutcheon.

The lock and key work.

There is a pen tray, the ink bottle is present.

The baize on the underside is in good condition.

Inside the leather skiver is in excellent original condition, it has some tooling around the edge which gives a nice decorative look. Lifting each flap reveals storage space which is in superb, very clean condition.

The original finish was in fair condition, so we have cleaned, french polished, using traditional methods, and waxed the surface. This gives the appearance of a used, well cared for antique item.
