1950s Photax Floor Lamp with Counterbalance

Description
We have a very fine floor lamp with counterbalance. Made by Photax of England, this is a superb piece of mid-century design. The lower part has been painted in a matt black, providing a smart modern contrast to the chrome. The counterbalance helps in adjusting the angle of the light together with a simple turn handle which is embossed "PHOTAX". A separate smaller handle is used to adjust the height.Originally made for photography, this gorgeous and unusual lamp would fit well in any modern home whose residents appreciate style.
It has an aluminium shade. It stands on tripod legs which add a touch of class.
There is some minor pitting to the chrome but this does not affect the overall look.
It has been rewired and is in working order, also PAT tested for the users' safety.
Height adjustable between approx 140 cm and approx 220 cm
The tripod legs are approx 70 cm wide.
