Apothecary Scales In Mahogany & Brass c.1880

Description

When you look at this superb set of Apothecary scales, it's hard to believe that it all dismantles and actually fits into the drawer below.

The base of this one is rather nicer than most in a warm Mahogany and a turned knob to the front to open the drawer. When putting these together, I have wrapped the pin (this is critical to put these scales together) and labelled it in the drawer.

The set comes complete with some polished brass apothecary weights as seen in the photographs, three signed Avery. The two brass pans when resting sit on the top of the Mahogany base and when needed the lever in the centre is pushed down to allow the scales to do their job. I have labelled the Left and Right to assist in their assembly.

Dating to the Victorian era, a wonderful showy piece as a medical related gift, it would be perfect on a desk. Excellent condition and a good impressive size, the base measures 14 1/2" x 8"x 3 3/4" tall. All the brass has been professionally polished to gleam.
