Description

A really fabulous book rest or Lectern, clearly a one-off, custom made for a wealthy lady or gentleman around 160 years ago.

If you look carefully at the decorative front, it was clearly a bespoke piece with an integral monogram I think the central letter is a large H flanked by J & S.

The lectern is adjustable by placing the folding easel at various places on the highly decorative base of course, it folds flat for travel. It stands on four wonderful chunky feet.

Most of these date to the late Victorian era, this one is certainly earlier, around 1850.

Excellent condition, the front panel measures 10 1/4" x 8 3/4" the book shown measures 7 1/2" x 5" giving a further indication to it's size.
