Description

This is a very attractive antique Kazak prayer rug from Central Caucasus with an eye catching design. The indigo field has three latch hook polychrome medallions beneath the mihrab and is enclosed by leaf and calyx borders and borber pole guard stripes. The carpet is finely executed and has a vibrant colour palette which includes rich red, coral and a beautiful jade blue/green. This is in good order with a close even pile and has dates for 1314 which converts to the 1934. The prayer rug measures 142 cms by 96 cms.
