Description

This is a charming Kashmir chain stitch rug which dates from around 1900. The rug has been lovingly hand stitched using a technique of looping chain stitch together to create the rug, very similar to crewel work and common in Northern India and other nearby areas. It has a traditional design akin to those of Chinese or Tibetan carpets with a soft green field and round central medallion and quite deep borders.
The rug is in very good order for its age and measures 150 cms by 90 cms.
