Description

This is a good pair of early 20th Century Chinese hardwood tables of typical barrel form with beautifully hand painted dragon designs in red ironstone to the porcelain inset surfaces. The dragons are superbly detailed and are depicted chasing the flaming pearl which is highlighted in gold. The pearl was a symbol of spiritual energy, wisdom and prosperity and Chinese art often depicts dragons chasing or fighting over the flaming pearl.
The tables are in excellent order and are super quality in hardwood with a lovely warm colour.
These measure 46 cms high and are 36 cms wide, the top surface being 30 cms in diameter.
