Description

A most imposing 19th century Throne chair of Spanish origin dating from around 1860. The substantial walnut frame is deeply and ornately carved and it has a pleasing warm colour to it. The hand painted leather panels to the seat and back are in good order, the back in particular having excellent colour. There are backward facing beasts to the uprights, to guard over whoever sits in the throne chair and the crest at the top has mythical human serpent like creatures to either side. The grand arms are wonderfully carved with large scrolling acanthus leaves to the ends. The chair is in good sound condition with good solid joints and a well supported seat.
This is a good size measuring 120 cms in height by 73 cms wide.
