Description

This is a very handsome early 19th century Giltwood console table with a beautiful rouge marble top dating from around 1820. The impressive carved frieze is carried on really substantial acanthus carved cabriole forelegs with scrolling toes at the foot. The original gilding has a wonderful rich colour and great patina. The red marble top has had a couple of historic repairs over the years but is a good sound rouge slab with a wonderful figuring and characterful grain. The table is in great sturdy condition with solid joints and structure. It is a really impressive piece measuring 104 cms wide by 82 cms high and 45 cms deep.
