Description

This is a beautiful 19th century German porcelain plaque,

painted after Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino) with the

Madonna Della Sedia. The plaque is inscribed to the back 'Sedia- Raffaello Sanzio', set within a stunning hand carved giltwood and gesso florentine frame. The exceptional frame is beautifully water gilded and has a wonderful original gilt colour and patina. The frame is carved in deep relief, possibly from a single piece of wood and is remarkably in original condition with no restoration or losses. The original water gilding is a true delight.

The plaque measures 10cms in diameter, with the piece being 20cms overall.
