Description

This is a really charming early Victorian tinsel picture in nice original condition dating from around 1840. The picture depicts the Georgian actor Mr Bennett as King in Hamlet. The hand coloured picture is embellished with foil and metal enamels and cut out collage detail.
These antique tinsel pictures were popular in the early 19th century but are becoming increasingly hard to find now. This is a really good example and one of four of these we have recently acquired from a small collection. This is a really good example with a great subject and is in a smart burr walnut frame that suits it admirably.
The frame measures 29 cms by 23 cms.
