George I Walnut Chest on Stand

Description

This is a good George I walnut, feather banded and crossbanded straightfront chest on stand in splendid condition dating from the early 18th century. The top is quarter veneered with burr walnut crossbanding above two short and three long drawers. The drawer fronts feature delightful cross cut oyster veneering. The cabinet is raised on its handsome base stand which has one long frieze drawer and an arched apron with turned finial detail and six substantial turned bun feet. The chest is in really super condition with a glorious colour and a wonderful figured grain to the walnut. The drawers all are in good order and run freely in the cabinet.
The chest measures 115 cms high 95 cms wide by 56 cms deep.
A very elegant chest in lovely condition dating from around 1720.

PROVENANCE: This was formerly the property of a Lady of Title and stood in her Kensington residence.
