Description

This is a beautiful French commode chest in golden walnut with an attractive marble top dating from around 1850. The heavy chest has four copious drawers, including a secret drawer to the top, all with fabulous solid brass lion mask drop handles and escutcheons. The chest is very smart with plain styling to the columns and block feet and the walnut is a very nice golden colour. The top is a figured medium grey marble and is in excellent clean condition.
This piece is in really good order throughout with a lovely antique patina, the drawers are solid oak lined and move freely on their runners. Interestingly, the chest has an address in Vannes handwritten in pencil to the top beneath the marble, perhaps its original home.
The chest measures 88 cms high, 130 cms wide and 60 cms deep.
