Antique Gilt Wood Candlestick Lamp 18th Century

Description
This is a good decorative, hand carved gilt wood and gesso figural candlestick now fitted as a lamp, dating from the late 18th century circa 1780.The candlestick has a Continental styling, possibly Italian Genovese, with classic claw on ball feet over carved head mounts to the triangular base. This has an attractive tall and ornate column design with profuse carved acanthus detail.
The lamp has been rewired with a traditional braided cable.
Rare to find in the original gilding this is a really substantial piece at 138 cms high overall including the shade. Without the shade it is 114 cms to the top of the bulb holder and is 26 cms in overall diameter at the base.
