This is a stunning Chinese carpet made by Walter Nichols Chinese Rug Company circa 1930.

Walter Nichols began to produce rugs in China with designs and colours more suited to the Western or American tastes at the time. The rugs produced were of a high quality and proved to be very desirable items.

This Walter Nichols rug is in truly excellent order throughout and has a most pleasing design and colour palette.

The deep indigo field has scrolled beautiful pastel shades and is centred by a roundel medallion with Chinese motifs. The oval indigo field is surrounded by a plain mushroom borders.

An excellent size, this measures 205cms by 120cms. It would bring great style and colour to a room.
