Description

This is a wonderful and very fine Mahshad Khorasan carpet from North East Persia dating from the 19th century. The carpet has the most amazingly detailed design and a very pretty colour palette. The deep raspberry field is profusely decorated by flowers and vines in cobalt and indigo blues, all centred by a roundel flowerhead, framed by intricate spandrels and deep borders. The carpet is in very good condition generally with some slight wear to the ends and a small repair professionally done to one end which cannot be noticed without extremely close scrutiny (see photo 5). It measures 209cms by 133cms.
