Description

This is a beautiful set of three bird studies by the esteemed artist Ralston Gudgeon RSW (1910-1984)

The birds depicted are the Scottish Great Tit on a branch signed, in gouache, together with a study of a Redstart and another depicting a Northern Wheatear,.

RalstonGudgeon was a Scottish born artist best known for his paintings of birds and animals mostly in watercolour.

Gudgeon studied at the Glasgow school of Art and in 1933 won the Torrance memorial award of the Glasgow Institute.

He was one of Scotlands leading wildlife artists and in 1936 was the youngest man ever to be elected to the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society.

He is represented in the Glasgow Art Gallery, the Paisley Art Gallery and the City of Edinburgh collection.

The paintings measure 26 cms by 18 cms overall including the frame.
