Description

This is a beautiful Chinese watercolour painting on pith from the 19th century. The painting is a study of insects in vibrant gouache colours and includes butterflies and other winged insects and also a little crab type creature. They are very finely executed and have great charm. The painting is mounted and set within a very attractive gilded bamboo style frame which sets it off very nicely. It is in great condition save for a small mark to the pith as photographed. The painting itself measures 22.5 cms by 15.5 cms but the frame is 40 cms by 32 cms.
