Description

This is a delightful painted polychrome wooden horses head which dates from the mid 19th century. The head is from a full size carved Indian 'Vahana' horse. In Hindu mythology a Vahana is a creature which transports deities and would have included many other creatures as well as horses. This head is wonderfully carved and painted in deep rich colours which still have quite a lot of show. It is generally in very good condition for its age, except for a little loss to one ear. It is a very good size measuring 60 cms long and looks fantastic hung on the wall or stood as a dramatic sculpture on a surface. UK delivery is free.
