Description

This is a most wonderfully woolly handwoven Kurdish horse blanket from Persia. The blanket uses both pile and flat weave techniques the main body being made up of a flatweave chequered design and the borders having wool pile. It is an amazingly colourful piece of weaving with small 'pompoms' and tassels. The blanket has small leather attachments which would be used to fasten around the horse. The blanket dates from the early 20th century. It is in excellent condition save for the loss of a few tassels, and is a good size, measuring 120 cms by 96cms. The weaving looks wonderful over a sofa but would also make a beautiful wall hanging. UK delivery is £20
