Description

George III
Silver Pair Case Pocket Watch
London 1783
Both cases carry the same hallmark with maker's mark JG.
Chain driven fusee verge.
Bulls Eye glass.
Movement signed E Wilkins, Newport, Isle of Wight.
Movement no. 3075.
Dial painted with ship at sea scene.
Inner case inscribed Capt. John Pasco RN.
Approximate dimensions: diameter 55.8mm, weight 147.1 grams.
The movement has been serviced but there is considerable wear and would need restoration including a new verge staff to work correctly. The service has been carried out to prevent further wear but action and timekeeping cannot be guaranteed.
The dial is cracked, please see photos, and is glued in place.
The cases are in good condition.
This watch would suit someone who wants to add a Georgian watch with a naval connection to their collection and is not worried about the wear to the movement and dial, or someone looking to take on a project to return the watch to its former glory.
