Description

A delightful folk art painted model of a famous Hereford medieval house built from matchsticks, c 1910

This superb highly detailed English folk art model dates to the early 20th century and depicts a complicated half timbered and thatched famous Hereford property entitled “The Old House, Hereford, built in 1620”. It is constructed of wood and predominately from matchsticks. It is a very fine and rare example which shows great skill and planning in its construction and would have taken many hours to produce. It retains its original hand painted finish which is in excellent original condition with a pleasing age related patina.
English, circa 1910, in excellent condition.

Height 26cm x width 22cm x depth 15cm
