Description

A late Georgian sewing and jewellery box in flame mahogany. Sarcophagus in shape and sanding on squashed bun feet. With a Thomas Hope apron to the bottom front. A useful 12″ long x 9″ deep x 6″ high. Fitted inside with a divided mahogany tray over a useful well for sewing items. A removable brass pin locks the jewellery tray underneath. The lining paper is salmon pink. There is a small chip to one corner, see photos. The pretty key locks the box. Large superb gilded ring handles and knobs add a final flourish.
