Description

A Regency mother of pearl tea caddy with shaped diamonds. The box is a typical Georgian shape and with silver fittings knobs, hinges, escutcheon. The lid is lined with navy blue watered silk. The two compartment caddy is lead lined and the base has remnants of the original paper. There is a key, but the box does not lock. The mother of pearl shell has superb delicate colour and iridescence. The diamonds are very neatly fitted and the whole box is smooth to the touch. This is in very good condition for its age, just a few tiny marks from wear. It measures 5 7/8″ long x 3 1/8″ deep x 4″ high. This mother of pearl tea caddy is so pretty and a rare survivor.
